Spinning Dreams into Reality: Re-Weaving your World at Midlife

This gathering will feature an exploration of the goddess Athena, The Three Fates, and Penelope, whose weaving and unweaving strengthened her sovereignty through years of turmoil. 

Though Athena is a goddess of war, she is also a goddess of wisdom and hand-crafts that include spinning and weaving. 

In Greek myth, even the mighty Zeus had to bow to the power of The Three Fates, named the Moirai. These three women spun, measured the length, and cut the thread of each life.

Penelope was left behind, as a single mother, to rule Ithaca when Odysseus left for the Trojan War. For twenty years she ran the kingdom, weaving by day and unweaving by night, to maintain her sovereignty and freedom.

We'll be cracking open the metaphors and myths of spinning and weaving to see what light they might shed on our lives.…
