Coloring Mandalas have been shown to decrease stress, anxiety, and depression as well as reduce chronic pain. The benefits were increased when the coloring was done outside in nature!

Coloring in mandalas has also been shown to be effective at reducing PTSD symptoms in veterans. 

​

Whether your coloring brings about a state of mindfulness, as in focusing and tending to the task at hand, or creates a state of flow, where you lose track of time and enter a more meditative state of creativity, it is self care. 

​

Coloring is play. Play is something we do for the pure joy of it, with no treasured outcome, other than the enjoyment of the activity. Humanbeings need to play. It is fundamental to life and joy.
