Truth, Imprisoned No Longer- Sun. 9/20 4:30 pm PT (1)

On September 20th in the Women’s Wisdom Village through mythology, folktales, and artists’ expressions, we will explore Truth. She has been embodied as the Roman goddess Veritas, as a character in folktales, and she has been represented in artworks from the Romantic to the political.

Truth was invited to a summer swim with falsehood. He stole her garments, left her naked, and has been parading around disguised as Truth ever since. Naked and afraid, Truth climbed out of the water. Local villagers, confronted with Naked Truth, became enraged and threw her into a deep well, throwing a mirror in after her.

Today, Naked Truth is emerging from the well, no longer silent she dares us to look into her mirror. 

Our Naked Truth can longer be denied.

Some Naked Truths we will be exploring—

Deception’s hubris has empowered the return of Naked Truth.

Women have power they don’t yet wield.

Women are effective leaders.

Old age does not begin at 50.

Women are wisdom keepers.

Women have the creativity to balance cultural and political structures.

The exploration of this archetype was Inspired by current events and the work of fellow mythologist Dr. Nicola Tannion. In our gathering, we will explore the role of truth in our lives, acknowledging that the personal is the political.

What can we learn from the time we are living through? Where is our power, and how should we wield it? Join me to explore the ancient hopeful truths and power that lives within the myths of the universal experience of being a woman.

Dr. A. is a cultural mythologist and women's coach. Join her in weekly inspirational conversations, held online, about the big picture of being a woman in these times.

In each conversation, as women have done for millennia, we will gather at the well (ours will be virtual) to support each other and to find wisdom, insight, and clarity in uncertain times.

These weeks of social distancing and unrest can create more than stress and worry. We can emerge from this uncertain time with a story to tell about ourselves and our world. We can create a new vision for our lives, our families, our communities, and our world. 

The Women's Wisdom Village meets on Zoom. Each gathering will last approximately 1 1/2 hours and welcomes up to 20 women.  Zoom meeting code will be delivered via email after your payment is received.
